Subject(s): Online resources: Abstract: Passenger cars today use technology for controllable steering torque and variable steering ratio which enhances both stability and maneuverability. Even though heavy vehicles require hydraulics due to higher steering forces similar possibilities as for passenger cars exist. Connection of this new functionality to existing functions as ESP and ABS and also other DAS-functions as LDW and brake assist enables both higher safety and better dynamics. Furthermore there is a possibility to obtain and provide information to the driver through the steering wheel e.g. regarding closeness to roll over limit. The project intends to focus on the latter possibility through design and test of active safety in steering systems for heavy vehicles.Abstract: Passenger cars today use technology for controllable steering torque and variable steering ratio which enhances both stability and manoeuvrability.
