Abstract: Background The aim of the RDD centre activities is not only to build up knowledge, but also to be able to mediate the knowledge in such a way that it is brought into practical use. The combination of academic institutions, research institutes and consultancy firms constitutes a good composition of know-how for the complete chain of activities, from research and development to distribution of knowledge and practical implementation. In addition, there are networks that the various enterprises/organisations have built up during a long period of time both within the academic world and within corporate and public sector in Sweden as well as abroad. The communication plan of the RDD centre stipulates, as an important ingredient, to arrange workshops where problems and opportunities within the subject field can be brought up to discussion, new project ideas can be created and discussed and results from conducted projects can be presented. Realisation Representatives from the transport authorities, transport operators, forwarders, shippers, politicians and other actors of the transport business will be invited to the seminars. The principal objective is to mediate research results but also to start a dialogue between different parties within the transport field. Seminars will be arranged annually on various locations with each party of the RDD centre as host on separate occasions. The seminars will be conducted in the form of workshops to achieve an active interaction among the participants. If suitable, the seminars can be combined with field trips at current demonstration projects.
