Abstract: There are large potentials in freight distribution in urban area regarding energy efficiency and effectiveness. Urban consolidation centers (UCC) facilitate a change in vehicle types and fuel used, and consolidation decreases the transport need. Additional benefits from are increased services for receivers and transport safety. However, to build and operate a UCC cost, and for these solutions to be financially viable they need revenue. Initiatives around the world are cancelled due to lacking financial viability. To guarantee future use of Swedish municipalities consolidated distribution solutions and an increased use among private actors financial viability must be strengthen. This project aim to increase the viability for these systems by focusing the financial viability and the development of new innovative services. Different stakeholders will be involved in the project.
