Abstract: Syftet med projektet är att instrumentera och undersöka ett par bankar som ska belastas till brott. Målet är att kunna bedöma konservatismen i nuvarande dimensioneringsmetoder för att beräkna sättningar och stabilitet, och att utveckla metoder för att uppskatta hållfasthetsökningen i väg- och järnvägsbankar vid olika tidpunkter.Abstract: The aim of the project is to design the instrumentation and testing protocols for a pair of test embankments brought to failure. The objective is to assess the conservatism of current design methods for the prediction of ground movements and overall stability, and to develop methods to estimate the gain of strength under road and railway embankments in time. We will also evaluate, if the savings in design provided by improved quality in soil data justifies the extra expense.
