Abstract: Projektets övergripande mål är att utveckla och tillämpa ny energieffektiv lättviktsteknik för att stärka svensk industris konkurrenskraft för att möjliggöra teknikskifte samt skapa affärs- och teknikrelaterade möten. Projektet förväntas bland annat ta fram minst tre industriella kurser och minst fyra branschöverskridande forsknings- och utvecklingsprojekt med tydlig energirelevans. Projektet kommer att genomföras inom tre temaområden; metall, komposit och hybrid.Abstract: The need for lightweight products is increasing everywhere. It's especially noticeable in the transport sector. LIGHTer is a national multi-sectorial lightweight arena which drives the development of sustainable products while Swedish industry remains competitive. The transport industry has posted several independent roadmaps which all point out that the focus on lightweight is necessary to achieve the emission targets. There is a linear relationship between weight reduction and reduced energy consumption. New technologies and new advanced materials (e.g. biobased materials) will be crucial. Another key factor will be to cross-connect different industrial sectors and coordinate competences between them (e.g. automotive, aircraft, marine, engineering, forest, energy and construction).
