Abstract: Projektets etapp I, som huvudsakligen är tänkt att ge ett state of the art-perspektiv, av problem, utveckling och en översikt av forskningen, kommer att ligga till grund för planeringen av fördjupningsstudierna i etapp II. Etapp I kommer att resultera i publicering av en bok (utgiven av SNS Förlag), en större konferens under första kvartalet 2008 samt ett antal seminarier och lokala möten runt om i landet.Abstract: There are two major objectives with this investigation. Firstly, to illustrate how different means of control could be used to reduce the emissions of carbon dioxide in the transportation sector (general means of control i.e. carbon dioxide taxes, emissions trading system, green certificates etc). Secondly, whether roads, railroads, aircrafts and shipping should be included in these general systems or whether there should be specific solutions for each means of transportation. Moreover, the European Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) will also be evaluated. The initial stage will provide a state of the art perspective of the problems and thus be the basis for a more thorough analysis in the second stage of the project. The first stage will result in the publication of a book (published by the SNS Press), a larger conference in the first quarter of 2008 and a number of seminars and local meetings throughout the country.
