Abstract: The project will focus on studying potential benefits when automated vehicles are introduced on larger scale in the road transportation system. The research task is to define how these benefits can be realized with autonomous driving vehicles on a high level according to the delivery qualities that Trafikverket have decided. The research questions are: How can punctuality in the transportationsystem be increased? How can capacity in the transportation system be more efficient? How can robustness in the road transportation system be improved? How can usability in the road transportation system be improved? How can traffic safety be improved? How can environment and health be improved?
To answer these research questions and evaluate these effects in real environment rebuilt vehicles working as testbeds with measuring equipment and test functionality for automated driving are required.
