Subject(s): Abstract: Att nå ut till en bred användargrupp genom ett pedagogiskt upplägg och en tilltalande utformning av både text och bild.Abstract: To make possible the publishing of a handbook with the preliminary title Planera för ett jämställt samhälle: om genusperspektiv i den fysiska samhällsplaneringen (Planning for an egalitarian society: about the gender perspective in spatial strategic planning). Authors are Anita Larsson (planner and reseacher) and Anne Jalakas (journalist). The book is based on research in the field of planning and articles where theoretical considerations are discussed. The writing of the book has been financed by ´Riksbyggen´. The starting point is the overall goal of equal opportunities approved by the Swedish Parliament. To integrate this goal into the field of planning has turned out to be a cumbersome exercise. The focus is on spatial strategic planning at municipal and regional level. The target group consists of professional planners, students of planning and politicians with responsibilities in the field of planning. An important goal has been to bridge the gap between theory and practise in the field of planning as well as in the field of gender/equal opportunity. The book clarifies how the overall aim of equal opportunities can be achieved through a gender analysis of planning praxis and conditions. Tools and good examples are presented as a supplement to the analytic discussions. To reach a broad user group through a pedagogical presentation and an appealing design of both text and illustrations. The National Board of Housing, Building and Planning
