Abstract: EfficienSea är ett Interreg projekt som syftar till att förbättra Östersjöns miljö och sjösäkerhet. Projektet har en budget på nära 8 miljoner euro och består av 16 deltagande organisationer från sex olika länder runt Östersjön. Verksamheten inom EfficienSea har strukturerats i sex arbetsprogram (workpackages), varav två av handlar om admininstration och kommunikation medan de övriga har olika teman. WP 3 "Competences and Recruitment challenges" handlar om den förväntade bristen på behörig personal inom sjöfartssektorn. Programmet ska inventera vilka sjöutbildningarna som finns i östersjöregionen och samtidgt kartlägga efterfrågan. Skapandet av ett internationell traineeprogram inom sjöfart är tänkt att fungera som ett medel för rekrytering och ökad kompetens. Genom att höja kompetensen hos de sökande kommer sektorn att vara bättre rustad inför morgondagens utmaningar. Ökad tillgång på kompetent personal kommer på sikt att att öka sjöfartens säkerhet, effektivitet och ekologiska hållbarhet. WP 3 leds av Sjöfartsverket och består av tio organisationer.Abstract: EfficienSea is an Interreg project aiming at improving the Baltic Sea with focus on the environment and the safety of navigation. EfficienSea has a budget of close to 8 million Euro, gathering 16 partners from six countries around the Baltic Sea. The activities carried out within EfficienSea have been structured in six workpackages, of which two are managerial and four are thematic. Workpackage 3 "Competences and Recruitment challenges" addresses the expected shortage of competent recruits in the maritime sector and is designed to look into the range of maritime education in the Baltic Sea region and investigate the demand situation. The creation of an international maritime trainee program is to serve as a tool for recruitment and enhanced competence. By raising the competency of applicants, the sector stands better chances to meet the challenges of tomorrow. Raising the supply of competences will ultimately enhance safety, efficiency and environmental sustainability of maritime operations. WP 3 is lead by the Swedish Maritime Administration and consists of a partnership of ten organisations.
