Abstract: The goal of the project is to build knowledge about how energy consumption and emissions of CO2 and other emissions can be reduced for heavy vehicles, with a customer value equal or greater than conventional vehicles. Vehicle manufacturers often have several product lines that put specific requirements on the design of the drive system for each vehicle product. Through coordination of demands of several vehicle products, a reusable hybrid electric system platform can reduce cost. In order to achieve a cost-effective reuse, industry needs to improve the process for setting requirements and the definition of complex product platforms. The project intends to conduct research in innovation and product development. The project also aims to develop, build and test a hybrid electric loader for mines to; acquire knowledge of all design parameters and produce a validated estimation of energy use, using a real system.
