Abstract: Powercell är idag ett delägt AB Volvobolag, som fokuserar på utvecklingen av bränslecellssystem för fordonsapplikationer. Powercells primära mål är att ta bränsleceller till marknaden utan att kräva stora investeringar i en vätgasinfrastruktur. Powercell har kunnat bryta den infrastrukturella barriären för bränsleceller genom utvecklingen av ett unikt system för konvertering av fordonsbränslen (ex. diesel) till ren vätgas och en robust bränslecell som kan hantera en vätgas tillverkad från diesel. Detta projekt fokuserar på utvecklingen av en dieselreformer och PEM-bränslecell till en teknikmognadsgrad där man kan integrera dessa komponenter i ett komplett prototypsystem. Fokus kommer att ligga på funktions- och livslängdstestning med syfte på att säkerställa robusthet i bränslecellen.Abstract: PowerCell is a Volvo group company, focused on the development of fuel cell systems for marine and truck applications. The primary goal for PowerCell is to take fuel cell technology to the market, without requiring large governmental investments in a hydrogen infrastructure. PowerCell has approached the challenges of hydrogen distribution by developing a unique system for converting diesel fuel into a clean hydrogen rich gas and a robust fuel cell that can be operated on the reformed diesel fuel. This project focuses on the development of the diesel reformer and the PEM fuel cell to a level of maturity where the components can be integrated into a complete prototype APU system. Focus will be on the functional and lifetime testing of these components with the aim of securing the robustness.
