Subject(s): Abstract: Sökanden har tidigare gjort emissionsmätningar på gasdrivna fordon. Dessa visade att många gasdrivna fordon har problem med avgasreningen och därför släpper ut metan. I detta projekt föreslås en screening av nuläget för att se hur stor del av gasfordonen som har avgasrening som inte fungerar fullt ut. Totalt 50 fordon ska testas uppdelat på lätta personbilar, transportfordon och tunga fordon i form av bussar och sopbilar. Abstract: Previous Ecotraffic performed tests on gas vehicles, those tests showed a severe methane gas emission in the exhaust. As methane gas is a potent green house gas it is important that unburned methane is oxidised in the catalyst. We offer our knowledge and services to perform a screening to detect how many of the gas driven vehicles have mal functioning exhaust cleaning systems. Our idea is to test totally 50 vehicles,passenger cars, transport vehicles and heavy duty vehicles as in busses and garbage trucks. These vehicles are in current situation running for Posten, Östgötatrafiken and Västtrafik. Other performers like SL and Renova could also be of interest. In addition to the screening we will do a literature study and data survey. The work is presented in a report where we give an estimation of the total methane emission of Sweden’s gas driven vehicles. There will be a presentation at Energimyndigheten where the results are discussed. We suggest that this presentation and discussion is given previous the completion of the report. The screenings are performed with on board measuring where the methane concentration is measured during idling as well as during driving in real traffic. These on board measuring tests will show if the exhaust cleaning is working properly or not. If there is a big problem with methane leakage we will write a new application that concentrates on finding the reason why the catalysts are breaking and look into what improvements can be done. The Swedish Bilprovningen is using a test method that does not detect high methane concentration; it is made to focus on other hydrocarbons. If our screening shows that the methane emission is of such magnitude that it is a problem we will get in touch with Bilprovningen for an extended project.
