Subject(s): Abstract: Syftet med projektet är att optimera avgasefterbehandlingssystem för tunga fordon genom att utveckla metoder och mjukvara för att kunna simulera interaktionen mellan det pulserande avgasflödet, strukturen samt akustik. Detta är ett mycket komplext problem där simuleringsmöjligheterna historiskt sett varit begränsade.Abstract: Swenox AB develops advanced exhaust after treatment systems for commercial vehicles. In the development work a number of issues related to the interaction between the pulsating exhaust flow, the structure and the acoustics arises. The exhaust noise has to be silenced, any excitationof the shell by the exhaust pulsations must be avoided as well as flow genrated noise. All of these issues are part of the day to day development, but are also interesting from a research aspect. This project aims at developing simulation strategies/software for the fluid-structureacoustic interaction and to verify them experimentally. In addition concepts based on novel use of the fluid acoustic coupling will be developed to lower the backpresure and consequently the fuel consumption. The project will run as a cooperation of Swenox AB and two academic partners. One is specialised in numerics and one more in experiments and technical acoustics.
