Abstract: Projektet stöder europeiska mål för bättre resursutnyttjande och mer hållbara logistiklösningar och är ett viktigt verktyg för att i praktiken realisera effektivitetshöjande och klimatskonande europeiska strategier. Etablerandet av det erforderliga ramverket av standards och andra harmoniseringsåtgärder till stöd för olika affärsmodeller och administrativa behov kräver insatser under flera år av industri, forskning och myndigheter. Innovationspotentialen är stor och svenska företag och institutioner kan ge viktiga bidrag till både den europeiska och den nationella utvecklingen genom utveckling av koncept, affärslösningar och teknik samt demonstration av praktiska lösningar. Den förväntade nyttan är störst för de små och medelstora företagen, som inte har resurser att etablera IKT-lösningar i den skala som krävs för att kunna hävda sig på framtidens marknader. På kort sikt stöder utvecklingen av handlingsplanen arbetet inom Näringsdepartementet och Kommissionen med att samordna det pågående arbetet med att harmonisera informationssystem för olika transportslag.Abstract: Making better use of ICT for freight transport reduces administrative costs for planning, execution and completion, increases market transparency and supports comodality. eFreight simplifies information exchange of commercial information between transport users and transport service providers and supports information exchange with authorities regardless of transport modes or combinations thereof. The project aims at developing a proposal for an action plan to make eFreight an operation tool for European freight transport stakeholders thus providing a means to exploit the potential of intelligent transport systems. The project supports European objectives for sustainable logistics systems and will provide an important enabler for European policies aiming at improving transport efficiency and reducing climate impact. The establishment of the necessary framework of standards and other measures for harmonization to support the wide range of business models and administrative needs requires several years of efforts of industry, academia and administrations. The potential for innovation is big and Swedish industry and academic institutions will be able to provide essential contributions to the development of concepts, business solutions and technology as well as demonstrating the practical solutions. SMEs are expected to be the major beneficiaries of the results. They do not have the resources to establish ICT-solutions on a scale which makes them competitive on the markets of the future. In the short term perspective, the results support the work in Sweden on Green Corriors and the work in the Commission to create information interoperability per transport mode.
